L.A. County Fair: September 4-October 3, 2010

The onset of the fall season brings cooler crisp weather, beautiful color changing leaves and the widely celebrated annual L.A. County Fair. The 2010 L.A. County Fair has something for everyone including outrageous fair foods, amusement park rides, skill games, concerts, vendors, livestock and agricultural competitions and shows. For the thrill ride seekers, there will be many action packed rides including the jumpin’ buggy, mega drop, bumper cars, starship, surf shack, tea cups, tilt-a-wheel, zipper, zero gravity and more!

If you’re a fair foodie then get ready to experience some amazing treats this year. Beyond the traditional funnel cakes, corn dogs and cotton candy the fair offers a smorgasbord of deep fried and chocolate dipped goodness. New this year, try the chocolate-dipped bacon-wrapped Oreo, now that’s a meal and a desert in one! Also, try the deep-fried Klondike bar, deep-fried PB&J and zucchini weenies. The L.A. County Fair is the perfect place to indulge in all of your favorite sinful treats.

Enjoy 19 nights of live music at the L.A. County Fair’s End of Summer Concert Series—featuring live musical entertainment from many of your favorite present and past artists. Some of the concert series performances include Teena Marie (9/5), Bad Company (10/2), 3OH!3 (10/3), Gretchen Wilson (9/11), Rick Springfield (9/10), Selena Gomez (9/18), Boyz II Men (9/23) and Creedence Clearwater Revisited (9/16).

The L.A. County Fair will offer more than a dozen attractions for the whole family including a circus, horse races, performances on ice, a pirate adventure, a flower and plant pavilion and much more. A new addition to the Fair this year is the Our Body: The Universe Within exhibit. As you step inside you’ll explore the amazing world of anatomy by seeing first-hand how the human body works. Then, journey through the exhibit where you’ll see how each of the major systems in the body works together in a brilliantly detailed mechanical process. This is a truly unique opportunity and a great learning experience for the whole family. The Our Body exhibit is located on the ground level of the Grandstand arena and costs $7 at the door or, you can purchase admission tickets online for $5.

With so much to see and do at the L.A. County Fair you might want to visit several times throughout the season, and for a discounted rate you can purchase a season pass online for $25—that’s 19 days of Fair fun. Visit the Fair during the first weekend and pay $1 for admission from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Then, Wednesday is senior day where guests ages 60 and older will pay $6 for admission.

HelloLosAngeles Tip: Visit many area sponsors including Ralphs, McDonald’s, Costco and more for additional discounts on admission, rides, games and food. Finally, for more information on the Fair events, concert schedule and vendors visit the L.A. County Fair website, Facebook page and Twitter feed.
